 The sport of stand up paddling has exploded!  Aloha Sup Rentals is offering Stand Up Paddle Board rentals to go on the Bay in Long Beach, CA.   Reserve your stand up paddle board on our rental reservation site online and call or email for pick up and drop off arrangements .  Stand Up Paddling (SUP) originated in Hawaii and the tradition continues in California.  It’s a great core workout and it feels like you are walking on water!

Stand Up Paddling started in the 1950’S  on Waikiki Beach in Hawaii.  The Beachboys Duke Kahanomoku and Alfred and Bobby Ah Choy were asked to take pictures of the tourists while they were surfing.  The Beachboys borrowed an outrigger paddle and paddled out, standing up on a 10 foot surfboard and took pictures of the tourists as they surfed.

Fast forward to the year 2000 and serious watermen like Laird Hamilton, Dave Kalama , Brian Keaulana, Mel Pu’u and Bruce De Soto of Hawaii, seized on the idea of paddling their tandem boards as fitness workouts.  It didn’t take them long to realize how much fun this aspect of surfing could be.  Stand Up Paddling was reborn!
